I am honoured and privileged to present the 2016 Budget proposal. This is my first address before this joint session of the National Assembly. I have come here today, not only to address members of the National Assembly, but also to speak directly to the men and women who placed us here.

Court registrar sentenced to 10yrs imprisonment for aiding Fred Ajudua to defraud Gen. Bamaiyi

Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo of the Lagos High Court has sentenced a Court Registrar, Oluronke Rosolu, to 10 years imprisonment for aiding and abetting Fred Ajudua to defraud former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi (retd) of $330,000 while he was in Kirikiri Prisons.

Nigerians react to Lai Mohammed blaming GEJ for Fuel scarcity

Nigerians have taken to twitter to react to the statement made by Lai Mohammed yesterday where he blamed former President Jonathan’s administration for the current 58 days old fuel scarcity.

“One of the reasons for the fuel scarcity was the inability of the last government to make adequate provision for fuel subsidy. We do face some other logistic problems but majorly, we are paying for the sins of the last administration.

Buhari presents N6.08trillion 2016 Budget to the National Assembly

President Buhari this morning presented the N6.08 trillion 2016 budget to the National Assembly members. During his speech, President Buhari said Nigeria remains committed to diversification to build and reflate the economy. On the current fuel scarcity, Buhari apologized to Nigerians & blamed it on some stakeholders who have refused to embrace change. He said fuel pump price will remain at N87 for now.

Sokoto gives N500,000 to each family of hajj stampede victims

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto has announced a monetary donation of N500,000 to each of the 138 families of the 2015 hajj stampede from state.

A breakdown of the number of the victims showed that 114 pilgrims from Sokoto were confirmed dead, 22 are still missing while two are injured and receiving treatment.

Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi will today (Tuesday, 22nd Dec, 2015) present the 2016 budget to the state House of Assembly.

Dokpesi arraigned for allegedly accepting N2.12b from Dasuki

Businessman Raymond Dokpesi was yesterday arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja on a six-count charge filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Dokpesi and his company, Daar Investment and Holding Company Limited, were charged with breaching Public Procurement Act (PPA), engaging in money laundering and violating the EFCC Act by accepting proceeds of crime.

How Jonathan, Okonjo-Iweala diverted N61.4b Abacha loot to Dasuki

Former Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala approved the transfer of N61.4 billion ($300 million and £5.5 million) from the recovered Abacha loot to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) a few weeks to the 2015 presidential election, according to documents quoted by an online medium.

The funds were not appropriated before being transferred, an action which violates fiscal responsibility law.

Fuel scarcity will end in a few days – Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has assured Nigerians that the current fuel scarcity in the country will be over in a few days, following the approval of the subsidy payment by the National Assembly.
He said:
